Back to school is always a stressful time for families but even more so when you don’t have access to the supplies your children need to be successful.
The Salvation Army in Barrhaven is distributing backpacks with school supplies for families in need in the local community. Forty backpacks were assembled and filled with basic school supplies and a lunch bag for different age groups.
Christina Bulgin, Community Ministries Coordinator at The Salvation Army in Barrhaven says they were looking for ways to support the neighbourhood and discovered there were not many places to get support for school supplies in Barrhaven.
“I think it’s about looking for meaningful and intentional ways to engage in our community. We want to meet people where they are at, see where the gaps are and try to fill those needs,” said Christina.
To register for a backpack please contact Christina at The Salvation Army in Barrhaven Ministry Centre at 613-440-7555 to book an appointment for pick up.
