The Salvation Army in Ottawa is hosting the Annual Charity Golf Classic at eQuinelle Golf Club in Kemptville on August 24th, 2020 in support of our Emergency Disaster Services.
The Salvation Army and eQuinelle are following the advice of Canada’s Public Health authorities to ensure a safe and fun day.
This year the Salvation Army will not be hosting a sit-down dinner but will instead be providing each guests a to-go lunch which will be waiting for players inside the golf carts. Guests will be asked to limit only one person per golf cart unless they live in the same household to adhere to physical distancing guidelines. Each team will be offered a tee time every 10 minutes starting at noon to avoid a crowd from gathering at the registration area. Each team will also use a digital score card online.
“Golf has been known to be a great way to relieve stress and get people out in the sunshine which is so important. Luckily, it’s a sport we can still play by using some physical distancing and other safety protocols and still have a great time with friends,” said Rick Milks, Manager at eQuinelle Golf Club. “We have increased our cleaning procedures of carts and commonly touched areas like door handles. We have also removed benches, sand trap rakes and golf ball washers.”
Salvation Army Event Coordinator Heather Prystanski says this year’s tournament will once again host several great prizes and contests.
“This year players will have the opportunity to participate in a hole in one contest to win a $10,000 prize! Other contests include closest to the pin and the longest drive to win other fabulous prizes,” said Heather. “There will also be a chance to win a Myers vehicle!”
Proceeds from this year’s tournament will be supporting The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services. Under agreements with the City of Ottawa, The Salvation Army Canteen Vehicle responds to fire, disasters and emergencies. Our staff and volunteers serve meals and beverages to survivors, volunteers and first responders at a fire, disaster or emergency. Our trained staff and volunteers also provide emotional and spiritual care to those in need at the site of an emergency.
The Salvation Army would like to thank our sponsors who help us make this tournament possible including Title Sponsor Frontline Credit Union. Other sponsors this year include Kelly Funeral Homes, Security Through Safe Design, EH Law, M. Sullivan & Son Limited, Monat, Shield Security Services, Versature, Kanata Myers and Corus Entertainment.
